Yennifer and Eliav officially got married at the Multnomah County Courthouse earlier that morning, and later that evening we met up for portraits before their wedding dinner with close friends and family! Honestly, it felt like the perfect way to celebrate their civil union wedding. The entire day had such an intentional and laid-back energy to it, which made everything feel even more meaningful.
We explored Washington Park and the International Rose Garden while the sun started to soften. Somehow we practically had the whole place to ourselves! Since the flowers were not fully in bloom yet, it was way less crowded than usual. Because of that, the whole session felt calm, intimate, and really easy. Sometimes off-season sessions end up being the best ones!

Yennifer and Eliav were so fun to photograph from the start. They were laughing constantly, pulling each other close between photos, and fully enjoying the moment instead of worrying about posing perfectly. Those are always the sessions that end up feeling the most alive in photos! You could genuinely feel how excited they were to finally celebrate this new chapter together.
I also loved how simple and personal their day felt. Civil union wedding celebrations like this always remind me that weddings do not need to follow a huge traditional timeline to feel special. Sometimes documenting a couple wandering through a quiet garden after saying “I do!” at the courthouse feels even more emotional.

Washington Park and the International Rose Garden ended up being the perfect backdrop for their portraits. Even without the roses blooming yet, the pathways, greenery, and open views gave everything such a romantic and modern feel. Plus, because it was quieter than usual, we were able to move around naturally and take our time without crowds everywhere in the background.
As a photographer, I honestly love sessions like this because they leave room for real moments to happen. Nothing felt rushed or overly structured. Instead, the evening unfolded naturally, which made the gallery feel even more personal and genuine!

If you’re planning a civil union wedding, courthouse wedding, or intimate celebration and want photos that feel natural, emotional, and true to you, I would absolutely love to document it! These kinds of days always end up being some of my favorites because they focus so fully on connection and experience.
