An Intimate Victorian Belle Mansion Wedding in Portland, Oregon
There’s something special about a wedding day that feels completely true to the couple, and Lily and Billy’s Portland wedding was exactly that.
Although they currently call Iowa home, they returned to Portland for the first part of their wedding celebration. The day began with an intimate ceremony at the Victorian Belle Mansion surrounded by around 40 of their closest family and friends, followed by a much bigger celebration with nearly 200 guests at Lily’s family property.
Two locations, two completely different atmospheres, and a wedding that felt personal from beginning to end.

The morning started slowly at the Victorian Belle, surrounded by the kind of little moments I love documenting most.
Lily got ready with her girls while Billy spent the morning with his people. Between the beautiful old rooms of the mansion, the florals, all of the thoughtful details, and everyone slowly arriving, there was so much anticipation leading into the ceremony.
These are always some of my favorite hours of a wedding day—the quiet moments before everything begins.

For their ceremony, Lily and Billy kept things intimate with around 40 guests.
The Victorian Belle Mansion was such a beautiful setting for it. With its historic architecture, gardens, and greenery tucked right into North Portland, it already has so much character without needing much added to it.
And we truly couldn’t have asked for better weather.
Keeping this part of the day small made the ceremony feel incredibly personal. They were able to be present with the people closest to them before joining everyone else for the much larger celebration later that evening.

After the ceremony, we took some time for portraits around the Victorian Belle.
I always want portraits to feel like part of the wedding day rather than something that pulls you away from it. A little direction when you need it, space to actually interact with each other, and plenty of room for the unplanned moments in between.
Lily and Billy made my job pretty easy.

And then the party really started.
After an intimate ceremony with around 40 of their closest people, we headed to Lily’s family property, where nearly 200 friends and family were waiting to celebrate with them.
The reception had such an easy, relaxed energy. It felt less like walking into a traditional wedding venue and more like one huge gathering of everyone they loved.
And so much of what you see was brought to life by Lily herself.

One of my favorite things about Lily and Billy’s day was how different each part of it felt.
The ceremony was intimate and quiet. The reception was full, lively, and surrounded by nearly 200 people.
But through all of it, the day still felt like them.
Those are the weddings I love documenting most. The beautiful portraits, of course, but also the hugs, conversations, laughter, family running around behind the scenes, and all of the little moments happening while my couples are busy actually living their wedding day.
I never want your wedding to feel like an eight-hour photoshoot.
I want you to experience it.
I’ll document what it felt like.

Funny enough, I wasn’t originally supposed to photograph this wedding.
Lily and Billy had already booked another photographer, but during the planning process, Lily realized that she wanted someone she felt completely comfortable with and could trust throughout the day.
She reached out to me, and thankfully, I was available.
I’m so glad our paths crossed because getting to document this day and be welcomed into their families was incredibly special.
Afterward, Lily left me the sweetest review:
“Aside from my now hubs, Analy was the best wedding decision we made!… You don’t have to compromise between professionalism or vibes with Analy.”
And this part especially stuck with me:
“It seems impossible looking at our gallery how she was able to be everywhere and capture so many moments, when it felt like she was right by our sides the entire time.”
That’s exactly how I want it to feel.
Present when you need me. Invisible when you don’t.
And somehow, there for all of it.

Their Portland wedding may be over, but Lily and Billy aren’t quite finished celebrating.
Since they currently live in Michigan, they’ll be having another wedding there for the people who couldn’t make it to Portland.
For now, this was one pretty incredible way to start.
Planning a wedding at the Victorian Belle Mansion or somewhere else in Portland, Oregon? I photograph weddings throughout Portland and beyond with a mix of digital and film, focusing on imagery that feels timeless, intentional, and true to the people in it.
If that sounds like what you want your wedding photographs to feel like, I’d love to hear what you’re planning.
