Maternity sessions are some of my favorites to capture, but many mamas-to-be can get incredibly nervous when it comes to posing comfortably in front of the camera. First off, it’s totally normal to feel uncomfortable in front of the camera with your pregnant belly. People in general have some fears when it comes to being in front of the camera. Let alone exploring this stage in your life growing a LITERAL human being. However, over the years I have been able to carefully craft some tips for the most epic maternity photos. For you to not only feel comfortable in front of the camera but have you looking H-O-T, hot!
Wear Something You Feel Sexy In
One of the biggest tips that I can give you when it comes to taking maternity photos is to wear something you feel sexy in. This will help give you confidence and build you up when it comes to posing in front of the camera. If you’re more of a flowy dress kinda gal, wear that! If you’re wanting to wear something a bit more casual, do that! The beauty of it is that you can wear whatever you want, as long as you look good and feel good!
Choose A Photographer You Feel Comfortable With
Getting your maternity photos taken can be a very vulnerable and emotional process. Whether you’re doing it alone, with other family members, or just your significant other. In this gorgeous Downtown Portland Oregon maternity session, The Huynhs absolutely killed it! They kept their color palette neutral and very organic. We also were able to fully utilize the space with a classic sheet backdrop which made things feel a little bit more raw, real, and in the moment. Studio maternity sessions are great especially when it comes to the weather getting a bit colder. It gives you the opportunity to experiment without the fear of others watching, you typically get some BOMB lighting and can get creative with your space. In this case, The Huynhs were wanting that effortless vogue-esque type energy and that’s exactly what we brought!
