A Nostalgic Engagement Session in Downtown Portland + Hoyt Arboretum

There’s something so special about photographing couples in places that mean something to them. When it comes to engagement sessions, I’m all about creating a laid-back, fun experience that truly reflects your story. Tim and Liv’s session was exactly that! We kicked things off at Hoyt Arboretum, one of Portland’s gems tucked right into the city, and then headed downtown to wander the streets where they had their first date. It was a day filled with memories, laughter, and all the nostalgic feels.

Tim and Liv love the outdoors, so starting their session at Hoyt Arboretum was the perfect way to set the tone. The lush greenery, winding trails, and peaceful atmosphere gave us the most beautiful backdrop. Capturing photos of them waking hand-in-hand through the trees was a dream. This part of the shoot was slow, sweet, and so intentional. Just the way they wanted it!

Finally, after soaking up the nature at Hoyt Arboretum, we headed into the heart of Portland. We explored the same streets where they had their first date! It was such a nostalgic moment. The city gave us fun pops of color, historic textures, and that perfectly chaotic energy that made the session come alive. We ran through crosswalks, grabbed drinks, and just let the day unfold naturally.

It honestly felt less like a photoshoot and more like hanging out with old friends.
