From the very first moments of the day, it was clear this was going to be a non traditional wedding in the best way possible! Marco and Elijah chose to center their day around connection, comfort, and pure joy, and honestly, it showed in every single room they walked into. Instead of rushing through a rigid timeline, they leaned into what felt right for them. As a result, the entire day felt relaxed, intentional, and full of heart!

To start the day, Marco and Elijah got ready together at the Woodlark Hotel, and it immediately set the tone. Rather than separating, they shared coffee, laughs, and quiet moments with their dog right by their side. Because of that choice, the morning felt calm instead of chaotic. From my perspective as their photographer, this was such a grounding way to begin the day. It allowed me to capture real moments instead of forced ones, and you could feel how comfortable they were just being together. Honestly, who says you have to do it the “traditional” way anyway?

Soon after, we headed to Everett West for the ceremony and reception. This space is perfect for couples who want something modern yet warm, especially for a non traditional wedding in the city. As guests arrived, the energy in the room was already buzzing. Everyone there was so genuinely supportive of Marco and Elijah, and you could feel the love immediately. During the ceremony, there were so many soft smiles and teary eyes. It was romantic, intimate, and deeply affirming in a way that felt very true to them.

Then came the party! And wow, the dance floor was a full-on vibe! Because the DJ truly threw it down, nobody stayed seated for long. At one point, I remember looking around and realizing every single guest was dancing. That kind of energy does not happen by accident. It happens when a room is filled with love, acceptance, and people who are there to celebrate something real. From behind the camera, it was impossible not to smile while capturing it all.

“Analy is the best! Having her as our photographer is like having your bestie take your photos during your big day. She was very easy to work with since day one. She made me and my partner very at ease during our photoshoots and hyped us up on big moments. She’s very professional and her photography style is top notch! It’s very timeless, classy and modern at the same time. We even had our previews within 72 hours after our wedding day! She communicates very well and is very reassuring. We highly recommend her! We are so happy to have worked with her and her team on our wedding day.:)”

What made this non traditional wedding stand out was not just the aesthetic or the venue, although both were incredible. Instead, it was the feeling in the room. Portland already has such a romantic city energy, and this day leaned fully into that. Marco and Elijah created a wedding that reflected who they are, and because of that, everyone else felt free to show up fully too. That is always the magic!
If you are dreaming of a non traditional wedding that feels authentic, joy-filled, and unapologetically you, I would love to be there to document it. Reach out and let’s create something meaningful together!
